Abstract

MicroRNAs are a kind of highly conservative short chains of non-coding RNA, stably existing in various body fluids, which regulate expressions of genes and participate in biological processes in cell growth, differentiation, metabolism, apoptosis and others by identifing target mRNA in base complementary pairing way.As one of the important members of microRNAs, microRNA-155 (miR-155) participates in the regulation of a variety of cellular functions, such as hematopoiesis, immune response, virus infection, inflammation, etc.A large number of studies have shown that miR-155 plays an important part in the development of lung diseases, which participates in pathogenesis of lung diseases, such as lung cancer, asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, acute lung injury, pulmonary fibrosis and so on, by regulating the target mRNA and mediating the expressions of a variety of cytokines. The article illustrates further about the research progress of the relationship between miR-155 and lung diseases, and we hope that miR-155 can offer a new direction for diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. Key words: MicroRNA; miR-155; Lung disease
