Abstract

When a power system is integrated with high penetration of renewable generation, increase of demand-side flexibility is an important means to improve renewable accommodation. In order to analyze the needs of demand-side flexibility for long time period, based on conventional SCUC model, an improved chronological production cost simulation model with consideration of the coordination of generation, transmission, load and energy storage systems is proposed. In the model, characteristic of controllable demand is analyzed. An aggregation model is established to equivalent decentralized and small-scale demand resources to 3 ideal demand-side models including load curtailment model, valley filling model and load shifting model. The demand aggregation model is able to reduce the computation complex with satisfaction of computing time. An actual provincial power system is used for the case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
