Abstract

Abstract Experiments with solid state detectors show a two peaked mass-yield curves for heavy and light fission products whereas the experimental track length distribution always show only a single peak. In this paper we explain the reasons for the observed fact and try to reproduce the observed track-distribution curves for 252 Cf fission fragments in mica, Lexan and cellulose acetate of suitable bunching of fission yields. A good correspondence has been observed between the theoretically constructed curves and the experimental ones in the case of Lexan and cellulose acetate whereas for mica the correlation show some disagreements.
