Representações de gênero e atendimento policial a mulheres vítimas de violência

Abstract

This paper proposes an analysis of practices of police assistance to women victims of gender violence in four police stations of the State of Rio de Janeiro, two of them specialized in assisting with this type of conflict, located in the state capital, and two others, not specialized, located in the countryside. The creation of the Specialized Police Assistance to Women in the mid 80s was the result of pressure from the feminist movement over the government in the political context of democratization of the country after the military dictatorship. We emphasize the existence, in the daily routine of the police stations, of the confrontation among different representations on the nature of this conflict, and we have tried to analyze, in a comparative way, how this fact affects the police practices observed, in order to verify if the specialized police stations present practices of conflict management which are differentiated and more suitable to the conceptions that have guided their creation as public policy of gender.

A partir do que foi observado nas unidades policiais pesquisadas, podemos afirmar que, considerando os princípios e objetivos formulados pelo movimento feminista, que presidiram a sua criação, não se pode negar o avanço que as DEAMs representaram para o atendimento policial às mulheres em situação de violência, mesmo levando em conta todos os problemas verificados

RESUMEN: Este artículo propone un análisis de las prácticas de atención policial a las mujeres víctimas de violencia de género en cuatro comisarías del Estado de Rio de Janeiro, dos de ellas especializadas en la atención de este tipo de conflictos, localizadas en la capital del Estado, y dos comunes, localizadas en el interior. Para analisar as práticas policiais de administração dos conflitos caracterizados em seu conjunto pelo movimento feminista como “violência contra a mulher”, nos valemos ainda da observação etnográfica e de entrevistas semiestruturadas com policiais lotados nas delegacias pesquisadas.
