Abstract
The business meeting of the Geomagnetism and Paleomagnetism Section was held on Thursday, May 21, during the 1987 AGU Spring Meeting. Over 50 people attended the luncheon and concurrent meeting, which was presided over by section president Subhir Banerjee (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis). The following are highlights of the meeting. For additional information on any of these topics, please contact the designated individual. Secretary Laurie Brown (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) announced the winners of the Best Student Paper award for the 1986 Fall Meeting. Recipients were Pordur Arason (Oregon State University, Corvallis) and Franz Heider (University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada), as reported in the previous issue of The GP Compass (see Eos, March 24, 1987, p. 162). Volunteers are requested to serve on the Student Award Committee for either the 1987 Fall or 1988 Spring meetings.
