Abstract

Dr. Lenz suggests that interactions between maternal natural killer cell receptors (NKRs) and MHC class I molecules on placental cells provide a means to quantify the dissimilarity between parental genotypes and therefore allocate better nutrition to those offspring that are likely to have the most promising immune repertoire (1).
