Abstract

The present paper is a reply to X. L. Lei's Comment on our paper [Phys. Rev. B 49, 2223 (1994)]. A revised version of our original proposal is given. As against Lei's findings, examples of miniband conduction calculated with our scheme are presented, which all show negative differential conductivity at sufficiently high electric fields. Our objection to Lei's justification of the use of a displaced Fermi distribution function for general band structures is explained.
