Abstract

The design of fault-tolerant real-time systems is an area of great research activity, particularly in the context of safety-critical systems like spacecrafts. The present work describes the design, implementation, and proof of a fault-tolerant server in a transputer network. The software was developed in Occam with in-line GUY code at certain places to improve performance. Byzantine faults are tolerated and the basic strategy is failure-masking by replication.
