Abstract
The thermally induced reorientation of chemically bonded phases, prepared by immobilizing linear hydrocarbon chains with polar terminal groups ( e.g., cyano, pyridyl, etc.), are studied using similar procedures to those previously described for non-polar phases. Results are explained by our previous model and an additional refinement in terms of specific interactions ( i.e., hydrogen bonding) arising from the polar terminal functional groups.
