Abstract
ASPAN’S ESSENTIAL PURPOSE is to advance the unique specialty of perianesthesia nursing. The society’s core values are building integrity, modeling respect, honoring diversity, promoting stewardship, providing mentorship, cultivating passion, supporting community, staying vigilant to safety and standards, and upholding excellence. 1 American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses2015-2017 Perianesthesia Nursing Standards, Practice Recommendations and Interpretive Statements. For example, Sue Fossum inspired us to be advocates and the voice for our patients. Meg Beturne honored diversity by “touching the world that touches us.” Chris Price encouraged us to be “beacons of change” with a focus on our future. Terry Clifford planted seeds of knowledge in order to grow roots of transformation. Twilla Shrout invited us to deal with challenges and win with purpose, power, and practice. Armi D.
