Abstract

The paper describes the potential of alternative and renewable energy in Russian Federation and opportunities of efficient usage of pollution-free environmentally friendly renewable energy sources as a one of the solutions for reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of which the main part will be produced by power plants running on the base of renewables – wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, small hydropower, and tide energy. Authors are working on the scientific, public and political issues in the promoting renewable energy sources on the Russian and International market as a prospective developing market. The main barriers and obstacles to renewable energy in Russia are psychological, economical, legislative, technical and organizational. However, all are not high enough and should be taken into account while developing the business model of renewable energy business. The structure of the thermal power generation in Russia on the base of pollution-free environmentally friendly renewable energy sources has been also considered, which showed that boilers and thermal power plant produce the main part of biomass.
