Abstract

Biodiesel or biodiesel fuel is the most commonly used diesel alternative fuel. The high viscosity of biodiesel and the increase in nitrogen oxide emissions in comparison with diesel fuel restrict its use in diesel engines of the car. A promising prospect are renewable diesel and synthetic fuels. A detailed analysis of the properties, spray parameters and emissions for different types of alternative fuels for diesel engines has been made, based on experimental data. The results of modeling the spray parameters of alternative fuels show that the formulas that were proposed for biodiesel can be used for renewable diesel and synthetic fuels. Based on the spray characteristics the closest fuel to diesel can be considered as renewable diesel fuel.
