Abstract
The results of an experiment are described, the objective of which is to determine the feasibility of evaluating soil salinization based on indirect interpretation keys, to identify suitable indirect interpretation keys, and to determine the most suitable types of imagery for the interpretation of salinization. Whereas late fall panchromatic air photos in the visible band, using the condition of the cotton crop as an interpretation key, are considered quite promising, a variety of imaging scales have potential, depending upon the structure of the soil cover. Tables describing interpretation keys for imagery at 1:10,000, 1:50,000, and smaller scales are provided. Translated by Edward Torrey, Alexandria, VA 22308 from: G. V. Dobrovol'skiy and V. L.
