Abstract

At the base of the South Tower of St Johns Cathedral, Brisbane, are installed two splendid stained glass windows, memorials to the Australian-American alliance during the Second World War. They depict an American bald-eagle and an Australian wedge-tailed eagle flying towards ‘a greater union’. The plaque reads:
