Abstract

The paper considered two conceptual approaches to studies in and projecting of society, – the system one and the reductionist one. These approaches have been sorted out on the grounds of either priority of the community or an individual within the binary opposition "individual to community". The study reviewed emergence of these approaches back to the past, at the Plato's Academy and Protagor School and the position each of these approaches has taken in evolution of the community. While the reductionist‟ approach generates self-centered communities, the system one generates team-centered communities. The reductionist approach where self-centered motivation takes priority, leads to the unsteady state of system. The system approach with the priority of teamcentered motivation, leads to a steady state of system. The study revealed the factors shaping an individual in the unsteady state of community network, and showed impact exerted by the discrepancy between cultural values and ideology spread in society on a community advancement. The paper suggested an empirical corroboration for a theoretical construct, i.e. regular crises in selfcentered communities involving extinction of the community members.
