Abstract
Etruscan religion and Roman law according to the land surveyors' central office during the Valentino-Theodosian dynasty. The documents from the Land surveyors’ Central Office at Rome are an important source in order to know the influence of the Disciplina Etrusca on Roman law and Land surveyors’ practice. They are more accurate than other evidence because they give information which can be dated (Vegoia’s Prophety against the Gracchian politics, constitution of types of limites between Italy and the ager Gallicus, establishment of very ancient colonies) and situated (types and evolution of limites in such and such colonial space). They show that the Disciplina Etrusca was at the origin of the holiest limites, which are connected with Rome and Roman citizens’ colonies. They affirm it instructed that temples and limites should be facing west, that possessiones were made sacred since they came from a divine property or had their origin in a sacred wood.
