Presently, he heads the Reliability, Test and Evaluation area in the ISRO Satellite Centre at Bangalore. Shri Purohit is responsible for the formulation, implementation and management of the R & QA, as well as the T & E activities of the Satellite Systems.Shri Purohit has been actively associated with the Quality and Reliability area for over two and half decades. Right from the inception of the first Indian Satellite Project “ARYABHATA” he was one of the key founder members, chiefly responsible for initiating and establishing R & QA activities of the Indian Satellite Programmes. He was responsible for the development and effective implementation of the Quality System Model which addresses all the product assurance aspects from “Concept through Completion”. Building up of necessary infrastructure, essential expertise, establishment of Space Quality Fabrication facility, development of reliability analysis models, introduction of non-conformance control and failure data management system are some of the significant achievements and contributions of Shri VN Purohit during his long tenure at ISRO. He has the rare distinction of being associated with the R & QA of the Indian Satellites built in India as well as abroad. He was deputed to Ford Aerospace Communication Corporation, Palo Alto—California, USA for monitoring and assuring the R & QA activities for the INSAT—1 Satellite system.Indian National Satellite (INSAT) and Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) series of spacecrafts designed, built and operationalized using the same Quality system model have greatly enchanced mass communication, effective management and utilization of earth resources.
