Abstract

One of the main tasks of the functioning (operation) of gas distribution and gas consumption systems is safe and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers, decrease operating costs, labour costs and increase economic efficiency. The article describes the experience of technical diagnostics of gas distribution networks. A non-destructive defect analysis was performed. Conclusions have been drawn on the nature of the defects detected. The problem of dangerous defects is indicated. Methods of non-destructive testing, which are most often used during technical diagnostics and industrial safety examination are presented. Work was carried out on the selection of X-ray control modes on the most common diameters of pipes for the gas networks, the selection of materials and equipment necessary for X-ray control. Analysis of the obtained X-ray images showed that the use of the selected control scheme and the applied F8 film type gives full compliance with the criteria of detectability for localization and visualization of the presence or absence of defects in the welded joint.
