Abstract
This paper focuses on modeling the reliability and cost figures of Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) submodule considering all the submodule operating conditions. The reliability of a MMC submodule over a period of time with and without maintenance is evaluated. Since maintenance cost contributes to a significant amount in the total cost of any system, it is important to have an effective maintenance schedule. The results evaluated in this paper majorly highlights benefits of a planned preventive maintenance with an effective inventory management, that leads to a reduction in total maintenance expenditure.
