Abstract
ABSTRACT THE stress relaxation modulus of a viscoelastic body may be predicted by a generalized Maxwell model which, if the substance is linearly viscoelastic, may include the effects of moisture content and tem-perature. In this study, samples cut from corn horny endosperm were subjected to loading as simple beams and stress relaxation characteristics determined at various moistures and temperatures. Although linearity was only approximated, corn endosperm may be char-acterized as rheologically simple. A single master curve is presented of relaxation modulus vs time adjusted by computed moisture and temperature shift factors''. T
