Abstract

The relativistic random phase approximation (RRPA), including 18 relativistic channels, has been applied to the photoionization of radon. The results show energy splittings in the Cooper minima from 6p and 5d photoionization which exceed the discrete spin-orbit splittings by more than an order of magnitude in each case, just as found in the simple central-field Dirac-Slater (DS) calculation.
