Abstract

The results of relativistic mean field (RMF) calculations for the ground-state properties of odd-$A$ Bi isotopes are presented using the most successful nonlinear sets of Lagrangian parameters. The calculated quadrupole moments are found to increase as neutrons are added or removed from the $N=126$ shell. However, no corresponding increase is revealed in the calculated charge radii. This observation is consistent with recent experimental findings.
