Abstract

The one-pion exchange currents in momentum space are derived up to the order M −3 ( M is a nucleon mass). Unitary freedom in the derivation is considered in some detail. It is demonstrated in a perturbative approach that the physically observable charge density is independent of the unitary freedom and that the pseudoscalar and the pseudovector couplings in the pion-nucleon interaction are equivalent in a limited sense. Some remaining problems are pointed out.
