Abstract

Methods of including relativistic and QED effects in the calculation of energy levels for two-electron ions are reviewed. New results are presented for relativistic and mass polarization corrections in the 1s3d 1D 1 and 3D 0,1,2 states, and for the anomalous magnetic moment correction to the 1s2p 3P 0,1,2 states. Detailed comparisons are made between theory and recent high precision experiments for the fine structure splitting of the 1s2p 3P 0,1,2 states.
