Abstract
We report on the stability and the magnetism of an inverted monolayer Ag/Mn/Ag(1 1 1) and an ordered surface alloy [Mn 0.5Ag 0.5] 2/Ag(1 1 1) versus a perfect Mn monolayer on Ag(1 1 1) by means of an ab initio electronic structure calculations. Inverted monolayer Ag/Mn/Ag(1 1 1) with intra-layer antiferromagnetic configuration is shown to be the most stable structure among the collinear spin structures considered here.
