Abstract
Ratios of rate coefficients for the decomposition of primary and secondary radicals accounting for their isomerization are derived from initial product distributions of paraffin pyrolysis. A pseudo-isomerization-equilibrium constant is introduced to correct previously published approaches. Its value is not unique and varies from hydrocarbon to hydrocarbon. On this basis, the necessity for the 50% 1,4-isomerization concept introduced by Tanaka et al, is questioned.
