Abstract

This study explores relationships between self-esteem, mental health and life expectancy with marital satisfaction among women in Karaj in Iran. The case study was 100 women who were married for at least 3 years. The sample size was selected based on the statistical methodology. For the correlation studies of 100 women in every major had been chosen and examined using simple random sampling. In this study, the Cooper-Smith questionnaire contains 58 questions about self-esteem, and 28-question mental health (GHQ) questionnaire and the Snyder's Life Expectancy, also the 27 item marital questionnaire by Lee were used. For analyzing data, the frequency, percentage, average, skew, Pierson- regression correlation coefficient were applied. Results showed that there are significant positive correlations between women self-esteem, mental health, Life Ex- pectancy with their marital satisfaction. There is also a meaningful positive correlation between their emotional intelligence and marital satisfaction. Also results showed that there are significant positive correlations between women self-esteem with mental health and Life Expectancy. Another finding was that level of marital satisfaction; number of children and duration of the mar- riage were negatively correlated for women. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that factors including: number of children, marriage duration, and the number of children.
