Abstract

The current study included 85 does with the same management and feeding conditions belonging to two breeds (Local and Shami goats), located in the west of Baghdad. 4–5 years old, multiparous, lactating and in their first to fourth lactation. PIT-1 gene polymorphism was indicated and results showed a significant effect (P≤0.05) PIT-1 gene polymorphism (rs645439735) on protein rate in Cyprus breed, the highest value was recorded in the individuals with hetero genotype (AC) namely 3.16 % compared with 2.92 and 2.80% in both wild and mutant genotypes respectively. Results showed a significant effect (P≤ 0.05) of rs661742748 SNP on some of milk traits in Cyprus breed, the milk peak was higher in hetero genotypes compared with the wild type namely, 64.0 and 34.46 day respectively. Fat rate was increased significantly in hetero type (5.6%) compared with wild type (3.11%). Results showed a significant effect of rs670830003 SNP on weaning weight and body Weight gain from birth to weaning in the local goat breed, the highest values were 16.83 and 14.04 Kg was recorded in individuals with hetero genotype (TG) while the lowest values were in individuals with the wild type namely, 13.81 and 11.18 Kg respectively.
