Abstract

The paper attempts to validate previous research on Motivating Language (ML) in the Indian context where cultural differences influence communication patterns. The paper examines the relationship between the use of supervisory ML on subordinate's job satisfaction, supervisory communication competence and communication satisfaction in the Indian context with reference to the passenger car segment of automobile industry in Kerala. The study was based on a sample of 70 sales executives from the passenger car segment who were surveyed using questionnaire method. Results indicate a significant relationship between a supervisor's use of ML and subordinate job satisfaction, supervisory communication competence and communication satisfaction.
