Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between serum adiponectin and leptin levels in newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes of the Han nationality in Henan. Methods Serum adiponectin and leptin levels were assayed by radioimmunoassy (RIA) in newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes and controls. The relationship of serum adipenectin levels with leptin, triglycerid, WHtR and 2 h PG were analyzed. Results The serum adiponectin levels was lower significantly than those of normal controls, and the leptin levels increased significantly than control group. There was negatively correlation between leptin level and adiponectin, but it was positively correlated with WHtR,tfiglycerid and 2 h PG. There was negatively correlation between adipone-ctin level and WHtR,but there was no correlation between the adiponectin level and other indexes such as TG,2 h PG. Multiple regression analysis showed that WHtR was independent related factors in influencing serum adiponectin and leptin levels. Conclusion The serum leptin level increased, but the adiponectin levels decreased in newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes of the Han nationality in Henan. Key words: Newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes; Adiponecti; Leptin
