Abstract
Purpose: To explore whether the number of unfavorable pretreatment risk factors predicts for cause-specific mortality in men treated with prostate brachytherapy. Specifically, does the presence of multiple unfavorable risk factors (pre-treatment PSA velocity, pre-treatment PSA, Gleason score, clinical stage, % positive biopsies) in men treated with primary brachytherapy harbor the same prognosis as those treated with external beam radiation therapy or radical prostatectomy.
