Abstract

The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are highly conservative families of zinc-dependent endopeptidases.MMPs are essential enzymes which are involved in the degradation of basement membrane and the extracellular matrix, and play an important role in the tumor invasion and metastasis.MMPs can be classi-fied into collagenases ,gelatinases, matrilysins, membrane type MMPs( MT-MMPs), and other undefined MMPs The MT-MMPs are membrane-tethered proteolytic enzymes and constitute the largest family of MMPs identified so far, other four types are secretory MMPs.MT-MMPs play a vital role in the progression and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer for their location and structual specificity. Key words: Carcinoma,non-small-cell lung; Matrix metalloproteinases
