Abstract

In addition to the influence of traditional risk factors, stroke onset is associated with the inducement of the sudden drop of temperature. The studies of the vast majority of areas have found that stroke is closely related to cold weather, The latter impacts the onset of stroke through a variety of mechanisms, such as the seasonal changes of vascular regulatory mechanism, changes in blood compositions, and the impact on infection factors. Studies have confirmed that inflammatory factors play an important role in atherosclerosis and stroke onset, while the cold stress may also play an important role on the differences of gene expression in patients with stroke, This paper summarizes the relationship and mechanisms between the sudden drop of temperature and stroke onset. Key words: weather; inflammation mediators; cytokines; gene expression; stroke
