Abstract
The dependence of green strength on green density and on compacting pressure was investigated for the bidirectional die pressed and isostatically pressed Cu powder compacts. The breaking strength of the pressed Cu compact was found to increase with green density and also with compacting pressure. The green strength seemed to be directly proportional to the contact area between powder particles. A theoretical equation for the relationship between green density and contact area was derived from a geometrical consideration, and agreed well with experimental findings. PM/0272
