Abstract

Introduction In recent years different natural resources have gained importance. It is crucial that they can be maintained and the circumstances of their reproducibility broadened. Biological resources are renewable. Substances of biological origin cannot be substituted with anything else in the food supply, they function as raw materials for the industry and also have a role as regional energy resources. To satisfy these requirements crop cultivation has an important role. On the other hand, in order to improve both the quantity and the quality of yields, we must acquire a complex ecological attitude and a more rational use of natural resources. All this requires favourable material, technical and social circumstances. The present economical environment somewhat narrows the possibilities for developing production methods. As a consequence we have to turn towards new resources, among which the exploitation of the genetic potency is fundamental. The first step in this direction is to choose those varieties and hybrids, which are most effective in land farming (KANG GAUCH, 1996). Beside soil conditions the profitable cultivation of sunflower depends on temperature, the amount of rain and sunshine (FRANK, 1999). Researches data of SZABO PEPO (2005) proved that during the year with rainier and cooler cropyear the yields were lower because of the higher infection of diseases. The agro-ecological and agricultural engineering necessity of different genotypes, furthermore their resistance to stress shows significant differences (PEPO et al, 2002), (DANI – PEPO 2005). In my dissertation I overview and summarize the research conducted at the Latokep research site of Debrecen University in 2001-2006.
