Abstract
For one-dimensional quantum systems, we establish the relation between two energy spectrum variational methods, associated to the Schrödinger and Heisenberg equations of motion. We show that by working in the Heisenberg picture we are able to obtain energy levels straightforwardly and not only energy differences.
