Abstract
Morphological and dynamic mechanical studies were carried out of high-impact polystyrene modified by siloxane rubber and a comparative analysis made of these results and the impact strength of samples. It was established that these systems generally retain the regularities which characterize high-impact PS modified by diene rubber. Dimensions of rubber particles should be kept within the range of 2 to 4 μm, the distance between particles being not more than 10 μm and a well developed specific surface of particles is required, which does not exceed a given limit. It is desirable to have a minimum coefficient of dimensional heterogeneity. The content of included PS in the rubber particle should not exceed a given critical value.
