Abstract

Dielectric properties of various coals and aqueous NaOH solutions were determined to study thermochemical coal desulphurization by microwave irradiation. Aqueous NaOH solutions were used as media for irradiation. The coal samples were placed in a rectangular cavity and irradiated with 2450 MHz microwaves, resulting in 70–80% desulphurization efficiency.
