Abstract

The Third Session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth People's Congress of Heilongjiang Province has deliberated the report submitted by the Heilongjiang provincial government on the issue of "protecting women's and children's health and fighting against infant abandonment and infanticide." The session came to the conclusion that the party and the state have consistently attached importance to the protection of women's and children's lawful rights and interests ever since the founding of the People's Republic, and that our province has done a lot of work in this field and has accomplished tremendous results. However, due to the bad influence of remnant feudalist ideology and old traditional prejudices, plus the lack of a legal sense, there are quite a few areas where the problems of violating women's and children's lawful rights and interests still exist in varying degrees, while in some places the problems are very serious.
