Regulation of IκB Kinase (IKK) Complex by IKKγ-dependent Phosphorylation of the T-loop and C Terminus of IKKβ

IBs regulate the activity of the NF-B transcription factors
RNA interference data indicate that TRAF2 and TRAF6 are required for IKK activation after T cell receptor ligation [25]
IKK may be down-regulated by deubiquitinating proteases such as CYLD, which associate with IKK␥ and deubiquitinate TRAF2 and TRAF6 (29 –31)
Summary
IBs regulate the activity of the NF-B transcription factors. NF-Bs control the transcription of hundreds of genes involved in immunity, stress, and regulation of apoptosis and cellular proliferation. IKK complexes containing IKK␥ with either wild-type IKK or IKKM10 were expressed in yeast and partially purified by gel filtration.
