Abstract

The aspartokinase activity from the thermophilic organism studied ( I. Epstein and N. Grossowicz J. Bacteriol., 99 (1969) 414) is very sensitive to feedback inhibition by either L-threonine or L-lysine. Concerted inhibition was seen when both amino acids were added. This inhibition could be reversed by several amino acids, L-alanine and L-valine being most effective. Growth of this thermophilic organism was inhibited by addition of L-threonine to the medium. The growth inhibition could be reversed by the addition of L-methionine, L-homoserine or L-isoleucine.
