Abstract
Myosins are actin-dependent motor proteins that play important roles in cell shape changes, cell migration, and membrane trafficking. Our lab studies physiological roles of class I myosins, which function at the interface between actin filaments and plasma membrane. We have identified contributions of class I myosins to normal kidney functions, regulation of cell adhesion, and cancer progression. Recent work from the lab has pinpointed novel roles for class I myosins in modulation of actin dynamics and membrane remodeling.
