Abstract

The paper deals with regional development issues in Transylvania, making proposals for professionals working at the local governments concerned. Human, geographical and economic studies on and spatial management of these microregions emerge as an essential issue connected to European regional policy and rural development. Based on the analysis of social and economic statistical data in frame of a research programme, the paper introduces associations and organisations, and their relationship in the territory under examination. Local governments of settlements joined to form development associations on a voluntary basis. These non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are to be directly involved in the activities of regional development councils of settlements and counties (judeo).
