Regional seminars and conferences are of importance for two reasons: they give a rather good overview of the problems and preoccupations of companies and academic teams in the region; and they offer an opportunity to meet specialists and technicians at local levels, who rarely attend the various international congresses and conferences, mostly because of cost considerations.
