Abstract

Regenerative amplification in a XeCl excimer laser with a phase-conjugating Brillouin mirror is experimentally investigated. By injecting a low energy, diffraction limited, narrow linewidth (0.15 cm -1) XeCl laser beam, an energy extraction efficiency of 60% (defined with respect to the multimode resonator) is obtained with a near diffraction limited (× 2) output beam.
