Abstract

AbstractThe importance of promoting valid conclusions from causal inquiry has animated efforts to be more systematic in our conceptions of validity. This chapter elaborates on the systematization of Shadish, Cook, and Campbell (2002) to offer a multidimensional framework of validity that is more comprehensive, more applicable to qualitative inquiry, and more flexible in guiding the progression of our understanding in specific contexts. © Wiley Periodicals, Inc., and the American Evaluation Association.
