Abstract
Bodies containing zirconium dioxide and a metal powder give a reasonably strong material when a phosphate binder is used. The thermophysical, physicomechanical, and other properties of the product vary with the proportion of added metal powder. Certain metals, e.g., nickel, reduce the kilning temperature to 160–400°C so that the area of utilization of the product is greatly extended. Materials containing up to 30% metal component possess good refractory and heat insulation properties and are appreciably stronger and resistant to thermal shocks than products from zirconium dioxide. alone. Some of the materials can thus be used as heat insulation materials and linings of high strength and spalling resistance while others are suitable as heat-conducting materials.
