Abstract
The refractory metals, which are characterised by high melting points and sensitivity towards interstitial impurities, are produced invariably by the metallothermic processes. As the metallic reductants are obtained by electrolytic routes, a need has been felt to develop these processes for their production of. The paper discusses the present status of electroextraction of these metals and highlights the future trends of producing them through these routes.
