Abstract

ABSTRACT Refractive index of binary and ternary liquid mixtures of propyl propanoate, heptane and octane at (283.15, 288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, 318.15 and 323.15) K have been measured at atmospheric pressure over the entire composition range. Using these experimental data the deviation in the refractive index have been calculated. Deviation in refractive indices data have been correlated using the Redlich–Kister equation for binary systems and with Cibulka equations for ternary ones. The obtained results were discussed in terms of the nature of intermolecular interactions and structural factors in these binary and ternary mixtures.
