Abstract
A refraction survey was made at the Shell Oil Company's oil shale project located 28.5 miles southeast of Rangely, Colorado. The thickness of the alluvium layer at the site ranged from 6 ft to 24 ft, with an average depth of 18 ft. The average propagational velocities of the low and high velocity layers were 1140 ft/sec (V1) and 4640 ft/sec (V2) respectively. The apparent dip of the V1 - V2 and V2 - V3 interfaces was less that 5 degrees in every instance.
